- Prayer for Nigeria-

      - Prayer for Nigeria-

I remember being in church one day and we were asked to pray for ourselves. Voices were lifted up as some people started to kabash, some went on their knees, some moved to and fro, some were in one place but very dramatic while others- like me- were just speaking in tongues with my eyes wide shot hoping to over throne the voice of the next person sitting by my side...Like it was a "Who God hears first" competition... *smug*

As the prayers for self gradually came to an end, a new prayer point was released and it was for our Nation Nigeria. Unfortunately, the atmosphere changed completely, people were practically whispering or murmuring, it wasn’t as aggressive as prayers for self...I noticed oh, like I notice everything at all times, but this time it was mostly because I was one of them...Ugh! I am a douche sometimes. *sighs*

Maybe the Potter Image thingy makes this blog a little more spiritual than the others and the fact that I love Jesus distinguishes me to be somewhat too petty on other issues, but, despite all that, I have found out that my world will be nothing without prayers or writing about the need to be in Christ. I know how I am an imperfect reflection of Christ constantly seeking perfection- I guess that’s what my journey is all about- but I have come to the realization that that cannot be achieved by self.

Communication with God is extremely important in making this journey a success and the only effective way in my opinion are through prayers. So, I am now at that place where I take praying very seriously- I even joined the intercessory unit at the place where I service my spirituality- just so I  can commune better and with understanding. In other words, praying has become a key functional part of my life and I will like to write that it will be extended to this country in due time...After my experience in Church, I know I am definitely not the only one who has started to see prayer for this country as a mindless activity that is so boring and un-engaging.

But why pray for Nigeria?
What exactly will we pray about?
Haven’t we been praying and still have not seen any changes, so what makes this time any different?

Well...

We all want change right? I am guessing that was the assumable plan when we voted the party that significantly preached Change... Therefore, we must earnestly, with a deep sense of appreciation pray to God for this country to actually change. It will be a daily walk and must become habitual, an act of obedient worship and supplication to God on behalf of our country.

As we question, wonder and prod for understanding, we must not dismiss the fact that our prayers are important even if the physical eyes haven’t seen anything different, our spiritual understanding tells us that something moves when we pray and that something moves faster when we pray as one.
We are the people that make Nigeria a nation, not the government, they are the minority. We the citizens are the majority and just like our votes spoke volume on how powerful we can be if we decide to put things in place, our prayers will be more effective as the change starts from us individually.

God listens and He responds to our prayers whether we see the effect or not. So, let us honour our great country together by praying to our father who created this country in the first place, encouraging each other to receive forgiveness and strength as we seek perfection in our various journeys. SO lets pray for Nigeria just as powerful , mind blowing, gymnastically and fervently as we pray for ourselves from now on. Share the word, shine your light.

Let us pray...
Oh God of creation, direct our noble causeGuide our leaders’ rightHelp our youth the truth to knowIn love and honesty to growAnd living just and trueGreat lofty heights attainTo build a nation where peace and justice shall reign.
